Foreigners already in China whose purpose has changed, or who need to move between a stay document and a residence permit.
Where it is filed
The exit-entry administration where you are staying. Some changes cannot be done inside China and require a new visa from abroad.
What we do not promise
A change of purpose is not always available inside China. The bureau can refuse and tell you to leave and apply again. We do not promise that a conversion can be completed without exiting China.
Documents the agent will ask for
- Passport, current visa or residence permit, and temporary accommodation registration.
- Documents that show the new purpose (work-permit papers, admission letter, family evidence, or similar).
- The local exit-entry application form.
